VALUHEART - CHEAPER FORM OF HEARTGARD

We have just added a new product called Valuheart. This product contains Ivermectin the same active ingredient in Heartgard Plus. It is a monthly tablet that controls heartworm very effectively, but is 40% cheaper than Heartgard Plus - so it offers excellent value. The difference is that it is a tablet not a chewable cube , so you have to give it to your dog orally. It also doesn't contain any intestinal wormer as does Heartgard Plus. Heartgard Plus contains Pyrantel Pamote which will control hookworms and roundworms in your dog. Valuheart is good value if you just want a simple no frills tablet ,that you give monthly to control heartworm in your pet dog.

To get to know the pets we help keep healthy, we are going to start a new page at the website - Pet Corner. In the last newsletter we mentioned the problem of the registered post system was that some people aren't home when delivery was attempted. This means they needed to go to the post office to pick up the parcel - a big hassle. We attempted to stop this happening by giving a option to people to not use registered post ,so the parcel could be left when delivery occurred.So no registered post sticker was applied by us - this proved futile as when the parcels were deposited at DHL Global Mail center they placed on the stickers thinking we had forgotten or it had fallen off. My apologies to the people that choose not to use registered post but it occurred anyway.

We will now be placing on the parcels NO SIGNATURE REQUIRED so the parcels can be delivered when you aren't home. We will also place on the parcels any delivery instructions you want - to tell the delivery person where to place the parcel if you aren't home. We have changed the order in which we process the orders, so now we can place those instructions on the parcels for you.

PRECAUTIONARY TALE - ANOTHER VET RIP OFF

The following is a example of how your veterinarian can over charge you by making wrong decisions about how to handle a health problem with your pet. This only occurred recently and was told to me by a staff member at a veterinary hospital who was distressed about what had occurred, but can not obviously say anything or possibly lose their job - this is a typical example what vets do and you have to pay the price.

A dog 4 years old was brought to the hospital with a very sore tail. The dog resented the tail being touched - for obvious reasons.As the vet couldn't examine the tail correctly the vet decided the dog needed to have a general anesthetic, xrays,be hospitalized and treatment given while admitted.The owner was struggling financially but wanting to to the right thing for their pet they went along with the vets suggestions. It turned out the dog just had a infection and responded to antibiotics and antiinflammatories. The vet kept the dog in until the owner could pay the bill - this added up to $1230.00

So what is wrong with the above story? The vet made suggestions that greatly benefited them financially,this dogs treatment could of been handled completely differently with the same result and without the owner being ripped off by this veterinarian.The most likely cause of the sore tail in a dog of this age would be infection - the vet would of known that, so instead of dispensing antibiotics and antiinflammatoires and sending the dog home on treatment and see if it improved , a logical solution to the problem, that would have cost no more than $120.00.The vet chose the treatment option that was financially advantageous for them. The dog could of had a simple tranquilizer if the vet wanted to examine the tail more closely.The dog should of been sent home on treatment with instructions that if there was no improvement within 2-3 days to come back.The owner wasn't given this option , the vet made decisions that they knew would be beneficial to the vets income with no consideration to the owners financial situation.

This type of thing occurs everyday,the treatment decision made is not the only one available. The owner should be given all the options and not steam rolled into the treatment that benefits the vets income. The owner should be able to choose the treatment options - so in this case instead of a bill of $1230 the owner would only of paid $120, to have their pet back to full health.
