Last month the web support team we use upgraded to a different internet server company. There were a few problems implementing the change, like there always is with computer related changes, we have all experienced this! Now the store is hosted with a server that has made the process of using the site far faster and reliable. So after some short term pain we now offer long term benefits that will be good for everyone.

We have recently added a FAQ section on the home page. This covers the most commonly asked questions that people have sent over the last year. NUCLEAR SCLEROSIS IS VERY COMMON

This is a very common problem that occurs in dogs as they age. In both eyes there develops a bluish-grey haziness in the centre of the eye. What is occuring is with age,the lens of the eye becomes more dense due to the compression of older lens fibers by new fiber formation. With the increased density of the lens,the light entering the eye is scattered causing the typical appearance of the eye as seen in the photo. You can tell the differrnce by shining a light into the eye, with nucleur sclerosis a relection from the back of the eye can be seen - the greenish round appearance you see at night when lights are shined in the eye. There is no treatment for this condition, it doesnt cause sight changes long term so it is nothing to be concerned about, unfortunately you can't stop the aging process!!

Free registered delivery is offered for orders of $100 value and over, the option of not using this service can by done by telling us during the checkout, this is done by entering a message in the section provided.

So with experience gained over the last six months of offering registered delivery we now have a system that offers tracking for customers that like that service and also the ability for customers to not use the service if they choose not to.

FINALLY A NEW PAYMENT GATEWAY

We have mentioned this in the past but unfortunately we have never been able to get a suitable new payment gateway other than PayPal who we now use. The problem is most of these companies charge rates that are ridiculous. Due to our very low prices we cannot afford to have a rate that makes it unprofitable to operate - that’s obvious. The problem we have found with these companies is they develop rates that are an indication of the risk they are taking in terms of people purchasing goods dishonestly with stolen cards. We have explained that our customers are not international criminals, but normal people who love their pets. Finally we have found a company based in the USA that is fair with the rates charged and are reliable, trustworthy with very high security. We are not comfortable with keeping card details so leave this to the professionals, so there is minimal chance of the card information falling into the wrong hands. This should all be set up within the next two weeks and will stop the problems that can occur at PayPal when you do not have an account with them.

SHOO TAGS ARE A SCAM

You may of seen the availability of these new wonder tags that supposedly are a pest control product, that are being marketed as an environmental friendly method to control fleas and ticks on animals. They use a magnetic strip that supposedly places a field around your pet to repel fleas and ticks. These products do nothing to control these annoying and dangerous parasites on your pets. When they do not work the company that markets them then has a long list of possible reasons why it hasn't. The best is during delivery the parcel went under power lines that affected the magnetic field of the tag - yer right. Please do not waste your money on this scam product. WASHING YOUR CAT CAN BE A NIGHTMARE

There are times during your cats life that you need to wash your cat for various reasons. Fortunately most cats are excellent at keeping themselves in good order, but at times they may need some help. Some skin problems may require you to wash your cat in medicated washes.

You can do this yourself if you take the correct steps to ensure a good result. Having said that some cats will require a sedative for them to be washed, as they are very unhappy chappies about the whole idea about being washed.

Always have everything prepared before you get your cat. Always do in a closed room so they cannot escape. The best way is to be firm but gentle; it is far quicker and less stressful if you do this. Scruff your cat behind the neck, firmly and with authority, this way your cat knows you mean business. Place in the bath already with water in it and start the washing process - always hold the scruff firmly. The secret is to ensure you hold the scruff firmly the whole time, if you release some pressure they will start to struggle It may seem like tough love but in the long run the washing process will be faster and less stressful for all concerned.

TRIFEXIS AKA PANORAMIS

Over the last month we have had a number of customers who once receiving the Panoramis product they have ordered, are concerned that it is not the same product as Trifexis. They phone their local veterinarian who of course predictably says that they are not the same and to send them back immediately. They of course do this to increase their own profit from selling this product with an expensive prescription - they are being unbelievably dishonest.

The company that manufactures this product purposely used a different name in the USA compared to the rest of the world, to try to stop internet supply of this product. They do this to create confusion.

The products are exactly the same, they have different labelling on the packet but underneath the product is exactly the same. They are manufactured in the same factory. So please do not be concerned, you get the same product at a way better price.
